Multiplication War
Skills: multiplication facts to 81
Players:2
Equipment: cards (Ace = 1) – 9, multiplication table
Getting Started:Players divide cards evenly between themselves.
Players turn over two cards each and then multiplies them together. The player with the largest product collects all four cards.
In the event of a tie (i.e. the same product), each player deals three more cards face down. Two more cards are turned over and the player with the largest product collects all of the cards. Play continues until one player has collected all of the cards. Players may need to check a multiplication table.
Example:
Player 1 Player 2
5, 7 4, 9
5 x 7 = 35 4 x 9 = 36
Player 2 would win all four cards.
Tie Example:
Player 1 Player 2
4, 8 8, 4
4 x 8 = 32 8 x 4 = 32

6, 7 3, 4
6 x 7 = 42 3 x 4 = 12
Player 1 would collect all of the cards.
Variation:To increase the level of difficulty, increase the number of cards used.
Example:
3 cards = two-digit x one-digit
4 cards = two-digit x two-digit
5 cards = three-digit x two-digit
Fact Feud
Skills: multiplication facts to 81
Players:2
Equipment:cards (Ace = 1) – 9
Getting Started:
Players decide the particular fact to practice (example: x7, x4, x8, etc.) Once the constant factor is determined, that card is placed between the two players. Players then divide the remaining cards evenly between themselves. Each player turns over one card and multiplies that card by the constant in the middle. The player with the highest product collects both cards. Players must verbalize their math sentence.
Example:
Player 1 Player 2
4 x5 7
“4 x 5 = 20”“7 x 5 = 35”
Player 2 would collect both cards.
In the event of a tie (i.e. both player have the same product), each player deals out three more cards face down and then turns another card face up. The turned over card is multiplied by the constant factor and the highest product wins all of the cards.
Example:
Player 1 Player 2
8 x5 8
“8 x 5 = 40” “8 x 5 = 40”

9 3
“9 x 5 = 45” “3 x 5 = 15”
Player 1 would collect all of the cards.
Play continues until one player has collected all of the cards.
Multiplication Tic-Tac-Toe
Skills:multiplication facts to 81, using a multiplication table
Players:2
Equipment:cards (Ace = 1) – 9, paper, pens, markers of two different colours, multiplication table to 81
Getting Started:Players select a colour of marker. The goal of the game is for player to get three or more of their markers in a row, either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Player number one begins by drawing two cards and multiplying them together; verbalizing this fact to their opponent. A player would then cover all possible locations (i.e. 2 x 8, 8 x 2, 4 x 4 if their product was sixteen) with their markers. Player number two then takes a turn. Players alternate turns until a player gets three or more of their markers in a row. Went this happens, the player remover their markers and count two points for each (i.e. six points for three in a row or eight point for four in a row).
Players can steal an opponent’s space in two different ways. First, when a player makes a product already occupied by an opponent, they replace their opponent’s marker with their own. Each marker replaced is worth five points. Second, after a player verbalizes that their turn is over, the opponent gets an opportunity to uncover any combinations that the opponent missed (i.e. if the product is 6, and player one covers 2 x 3 and 3 x 2 and says that they are finished, player number two cover 1 x 6 and 6 x 1). No points are awarded for this type of steal. If a player draws two cards that they already have, then they may draw two new cards.
Players continue to alternate turns for a set period of time. At the end of play, the player with the most points wins.
Variation:Vary card values and size of multiplication table (i.e. Ace = 1) – King (King = 0, Queen = 12, Jack = 11) or (Ace = 1) – 6)
The Missing Facts
Skills:multiplication and division to find missing factors
Players:2-4
Equipment:cards (Ace = 1) – 10, paper, pencil
Getting Started:
Each player makes a game board using any numbers 1 – 10 for their opponent similar to the one below:
Example:
3 x _ = 27
x 6 = 42
2 x ___ = 18
Each player makes ten sentences for their opponent. Players take turns flipping over a card and trying to fill in the chart that their opponent has made for them. If a player turns over a card that cannot be used, that turn is missed. Players alternate turns. The first player to complete their chart is the winner.
Snap Two It Products
Skills:multiplying a two-digit number by a one-digit number
Players:2
Equipment:cards (Ace = 1) – 9
Getting Started:Players divide the cards evenly between themselves. Each player turns over two card, makes a two-digit number, and says it out loud. Each player then turns over a third card and multiplies this number to the two-digit number to find the product. Whoever says their correct product first is the winner and gets all of the cards. Play continues until one player has all of the cards.
Players will check their opponent’s answer. If the opponent is found to have given an incorrect answer, then the player collects all of their opponent’s cards.
Variation:Players can use paper and pencil or a calculator to check their answers.
